Happy Friday y'all! And when I say happy friday, I mean TGIF! Lately I've seriously been feeling like every single day just mushes together and boom, another week is gone and there goes time of my life I'll never get back. I'm in serious need of a vacation and relaxation (good thing I get one in 4 days!) Life has been nuts. Balancing school, work, and photography is not an easy chore-and I'll be the first to admit I am not so good at it, actually I'm horrible at it. Over the holidays I'm really going to make it my goal to live in the present, and enjoy the moments of life I've been blessed with, and slow down. Focus on the things that matter most to me. "With whatever you're doing be all there." That's what I need. I have this tendency to fill my plate with more than I can chew, and now it's time to start saying, "no." (Way easier said than done for me.)
Anywho, I wanted to take time to share my most awesome, cozy apartment that my roommates and I have been working hard to make "homey". I have to tell you all, I've never felt so "at home" with my very own place, and it makes me feel so grown up. I love coming home, lighting one of our 20 yummy candles we have (we have an obsession), and just relaxing with my awesome roommates. I walk in and just instantly feel like I'm home. Good ole' W4. I would love for you to come see it sometime, you'll know what I'm talking about I swear. So if you're not busy come on over, seriously-I may even make you some dindin! (I need a reason to cook!) :)
So, Wednesday night at like midnight it all begins...We were so excited to paint one of our walls that we started taping it around midnight so we could wake up Thursday and get to painting, but after seeing the wall all taped-up we couldn't resist, and less than an hour later...we had a grey wall! (We painted our back wall teal right when we moved in.)
And then here's my fun Thursday project. :) I plugged in my iPod..played me a little Coldplay, Mumford & Sons, and Boyce Avenue and went to work. It took me probably around 2 1/2 hours or so! Check it out! Ps-all these pics are taken from my iPhone!
notice the nasty kick marks ^^
step 1) paint base color (gray).
step 1 1/2) I started off trying to do this free hand with just tape, but then I decided it would probably be smarter to google some better ideas. :)
step 2) make squares with chalk! (I think these are around 4inx4in)
step 3) take a straight edge and connect some zig-zag corners with chalk!
you'll end up with this ^
step 4) tap along the zig zags! (make sure to tap so the spaces will be even when you remove the tape)
step 5) paint in between the lines! (ours is teal; our other wall color)
step 6) remove the tape! (I removed it before the paint dried and it was fine!)
step 7) wait a few hours until the paint is dry, and take a wet wash cloth and wipe away the chalk and wah-laa you now have a fancy chevron wall :) (and no more kick marks!)
So that's a little of w4 and my first DIY post. :)
Be on the lookout for Mardie & Craig's wedding up next on the blog!
